The IZM received recognition at this years’ Constructive Alps awards because it demonstrates that commercial, utility companies can play a pioneering role. The energy producer chose to demonstrate their approach to sustainability in two ways: they chose a low-energy build and they dared to build it in wood. The construction stands strong on the Speichersee and is an impressive structure that is both elegant and coherent.
In additional to the awards the IZM will be presented to the public, together with the other 32 finalists, in an exhibition and in the catalog of the architecture magazine, Hochparterre. The exhibition will then travel across all Alpine countries in the next two years. More information can be found at www.constructivealps.net
