The most beautiful books in Austria 2008: Hermann Kaufmann Woodworks

The most beautiful books in Austria 2008 have been announced. In the awards 56th year, a total of 15 books were selected, including Hermann Kaufmann’s ‘Woodworks’.

The award is given to those publications whose design, concept and manufacturing quality is considered excellent. With 211 submitted publications, from more than 100 publishers and designers, this year saw the largest number of entries. The competition “The most beautiful books in Austria” is annually published by the Federal Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture and the Austrian book trade.  The top three most outstanding publications, from the final of the 15 award winners, are awarded by the BMUKK.

This year, the Minister of Education, Art and Culture, Claudia Schmied, and the President of the Austrian Book Trade Association, Alexander Potyka, will be at the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna on 4 March 2009.

For the first time, the winners of the state award will be announced at this event.
