A bus stop created with thought

In the municipality of Doren, the prototype of the new “Wälderbushaltestelle”, a forest bus stop, was unveiled, which is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The prefabrication and assembly of this project was carried out by Fetz Holzbau, a renowned timber construction company in Vorarlberg.

The bus stop is characterised by the use of high-quality materials, including cross-laminated spruce timber, which undergoes a natural greying process, as well as weather-resistant and pre-rusted steel, also known as Corten steel. These natural materials not only give the bus stop an attractive appearance and organic integration into the landscape, but also ensure optimum resistance to a wide range of weather conditions.

Practical elements such as bicycle racks are integrated, making the bus stop a versatile and sustainable hub for various modes of transport. The concept even goes beyond the mere waiting area and also offers a round seating area in the same attractive style. This area is pleasantly shaded by a centrally placed tree.

In remote areas where the future bus stops have no direct connections, a photovoltaic system will be installed as a sustainable energy source to ensure sufficient lighting.
