Revitalised bank building
The revitalisation of the Raiffeisenbank Lech has carefully brought a landmark existing building in the centre of Lech am Arlberg into the present day. The aim was to create a new architectural identity through a sensitive approach to the existing structure, the use of regional materials and improvements to the quality of the work.
The bank plays an important role within the townscape, situated between the parish church, the riverfront and the Dorfhus ensemble. The new façade, clad in natural larch shingles, reinforces this presence without competing with its surroundings. Delicately profiled bands of windows and robust wooden frames lend the building envelope a sense of calm and precision. In the spirit of a resource-efficient refurbishment, the existing windows were retained and integrated into the new façade design.
External screens have been incorporated into the additionally insulated façade, ensuring effective heat protection in summer and enabling glare-free working without restricting views of the surrounding landscape.
The second floor has been transformed into an open and contemporary office environment. Transparent glass walls create fluid transitions and unobstructed sightlines, whilst curved glazing and gently sloping walls lend the spaces a sense of lightness and create generous communal areas.
Brushed silver fir characterises the entire interior design. The finely textured wooden slatted ceiling connects the areas into a spatial continuum, improves the acoustics and integrates the technical installations. A cosily designed lounge area forms the centre of the workspace, complemented by the kitchenette in muted shades of blue and a striking seating alcove with red fabric upholstery. The loggia, clad in natural larch timber, completes the concept as a space bridging the working environment and the landscape, offering impressive views of the Lech mountains.
